Meet the Team at Bellwood Health Services

Acting as caregivers, cheerleaders, and confidants, we provide the expertise and empathy you need to build the foundation for lasting recovery. Every member of our interprofessional team was handpicked for their experience and commitment to excellent care.

Bellwood’s Toronto-based staff consists of counsellors, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, registered dieticians, family therapists, and physical recreation professionals. Their passion drives Bellwood’s legacy of providing multifaceted, evidence-based treatment for addiction and mental health concerns in Toronto.

Dr. Mark Weiss

Medical Director, MD, MCFP

Dr. Mark Weiss, M.D., MCFP (AM), returns to EHN Canada in the role of Medical Director. Mark provides clinical and leadership services across EHN Canada, and oversees medical care Bellwood Health Services in Toronto, Ontario and Gateway Recovery Centre in Peterborough, Ontario. Mark comes to EHN Canada with over 20 years of specialization in Addiction Medicine, including impressive leadership experience within specialized inpatient addiction treatment settings, with prior roles including Chief of Addiction Medicine at Homewood Health Centre, and Medical Director at Bellwood Health Services from 2016-2019.

Dr. Kalam Sutandar

Psychiatrist, MD, MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Kalam Sutandar is a psychiatrist at Bellwood in our Eating Disorders program, as well as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at University of Toronto. For over two decades, her work, studies, and published papers have focused on intensive treatment for eating disorders. She teaches and supervises psychiatric trainees in the treatment of eating disorders and psychotherapy. Her clinical foci also include perinatal mental health, psychotherapy for trauma-related disorders, and family and couple therapy.

Reza Toghrol

Deputy Clinical Director

Reza graduated from the University of Toronto and completed his master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at Western University. He came to Bellwood in 2020 as a therapist and has held many clinical leadership roles at Bellwood since. Over the past decade, he has been a therapist and a leader at a variety of companies, including Early Psychosis Intervention, Assertive Community Treatment, and Ambulatory Mental Health Services. He has specialized training in suicide management (CAMS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Polyvagal Theory.

Judy Dixon

Clinical Nurse Manager, MSN, RN

In May 2013, Judy was nominated for the Nurse of The Year Award. She began a leadership role in June 2013 as the Clinical Educator for the Renal Department at Trillium Health Partners’ Credit Valley Site. In March 2016, Judy spearheaded the launch of Online Priming in Hemodialysis and received an Honourable Mention for The Advance Patient Safety Award in October 2016. She played a key role in initiating the Wound Care Clinic in Ambulatory Care at Credit Valley Hospital. Judy transitioned to the Medicine Program in April 2017, serving as the Clinical Educator for patient care areas 2B & 2C Medicine. In March 2021, Judy joined EHN Canada as the Nurse Manager. She led the Bellwood Health Services Annual Pharmacy Accreditation in both 2021 and 2023.

Antoline Thiruchelvam

Primary Clinician, MA, RP

With over 20 years of experience, Antoline specializes in helping individuals heal from trauma in a safe and non-judgmental setting. She focuses on the mind-body connection and uses a holistic approach for recovery. Trained in CPT, CBT, and DBT, Antoline holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and certifications in neurorehabilitation and therapy. She is a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario, dedicated to empowering adults and adolescents to overcome their challenges.

Dion MacArthur

Primary Clinician, MSW, RSW

Dion MacArthur has an extensive professional history as a social worker working with a focus on trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, substance addictions and various maladaptive behaviours. Early in her social work training, Dion knew working within the field of trauma and addictions was her passion. After obtaining her Master of Social Work, Dion worked with Veterans who were homeless and suffering from past trauma and addictions with her long-standing employment with Veteran Affairs Canada. Since then, Dion has worked at Bellwood Health Services for the past five and a half years dedicating her time to the trauma and addictions programs as a Primary Clinician and Clinician Team Lead. Dion has 15 years experience working with military members, Veterans and first responders, and she is excited to be able to help civilians in Bellwood’s trauma program.

Margaret Fieldhouse

Nutritionist

Marg, a compassionate practitioner, specializes in aiding individuals battling addiction and eating disorders by providing tools and knowledge for recovery. Her dedication and expertise in addiction and nutrition have established her as a leading figure in these fields. Marg has seen the transformative impact of nutrition in addiction recovery and continues to profoundly influence her clients' lives, helping them regain control and rediscover vitality and purpose. In addition to her clinical work, Marg is a published author and respected educator. She extends her commitment to addiction recovery through community outreach, public speaking, and volunteer work, focusing on support and education. Understanding the crucial link between nutrition and addiction, Marg offers personalized nutritional support, empowering individuals to heal both body and mind, and enhance their overall wellbeing during recovery.

Wendy Lee

Physical Health Instructor and Recreation Therapist

Wendy is the Physical Health Instructor and Recreation Therapist at Bellwood. With a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology, a Diploma in Sports Injury Management, and a Diploma in Recreation Therapy, Wendy is dedicated to the health and well-being of her clients. With 15 years of experience at Bellwood, Wendy is responsible for developing and implementing fitness classes, providing leisure education and activities, providing strength training instruction, and individual fitness program development. She stays in communication with the medical team to determine client readiness for exercise sessions and injury rehabilitation, as well as completing discharge summaries for residential clients and providing regular leisure education sessions for core clients with individual leisure evaluations.
