When you turn to Edgewood for treatment, you join an exceptional community dedicated to your recovery.

During your stay in Nanaimo, you’ll receive support from medical experts and fellow first responders, military members, and veterans who understand the suffering that trauma coupled with addiction bring. Our clinical team – including doctors, nurses, and counsellors – provides the guidance and care you need to address past traumas and abstain from substances to build healthy habits that last.

This program is housed in Edgewood’s Ferguson building, a separate and supportive environment for our military, veteran, and first responder patients to begin the work of recovery with like-minded individuals. Core Addiction and Mental Health

Those in the military, healthcare, police, and firefighting career see and experience circumstances unimaginable by the average citizen. And every day they make difficult life-and-death decisions. As a result, they often experience moral injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, and operational stress injury. Substance use can become a way they choose to deal with these feelings.

At Gateway in Peterborough, Ontario, our Core Addiction and Mental Health Program is designed to address the root cause of addiction and mental health struggles, leading to long-lasting recovery.

Core Addiction and Mental Health

Recovering from a mental health disorder or addiction takes focus. And for some, that means an environment free from distraction. It’s why we decided to offer a men-only facility for addiction and mental health treatment. Here, men are free to focus on their recovery and to share openly amongst their peers.
