Today, EHN Bellwood Toronto is a licensed hospital and private rehab that continues to stay on the cutting edge and is among the most reputable treatment centres in Ontario.
In partnership with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, we’re proud to offer the first inpatient treatment program for OCD in the country. Some of our other first-of-its-kind treatment programs include an exclusive, civilian-focused treatment program for trauma recovery, and the first and only eating disorders treatment program in Canada that addresses eating disorders, addiction, and mental health disorders at the same time.
Spotlight on Dr. Gordon Bell: Mental Health Treatment Pioneer
EHN Bellwood Toronto’s name and treatments are both inspired by the pioneering work of Dr. Gordon Bell. Throughout the 1950s, he worked to learn about and from people struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction. At the time, it was a topic rarely discussed publicly or even within the medical field. In 1967, he opened the Donwood Institute, the first facility of its kind in Canada. In 1982, he founded Bellwood Health Services (which became part of the EHN Canada Network in 2014) and championed mental health and addiction recovery.
Today, we honour Dr. Bell’s legacy and strive to continue his ground-breaking work and successful treatment as we innovate new ways of providing evidence-based treatments for addiction and provide exclusive mental health treatment programs and support with the goal of being the best treatment centre in Ontario.
