EHN 2015 Top List of Holiday Events For Your Recovery

Wondering what to do over the holidays? If you’ve just finished treatment or you’re in long-term recovery, this list of holiday events are family friendly and sure to help you enjoy the merry ambiance that the holiday season brings. Whether you live in Nanaimo, Vancouver or Toronto we got you covered.

List of Local Events Taking Place This December in Nanaimo & Vancouver


  1. 1. Build Your Own Gingerbread Home on December 6, 13 & 20 at Santa’s Workshop in the Nanaimo Museum. Event is by donation and only available until supplies last.
  2. 2. Free Downtown Christmas Trolley with Belgian horses, Fred and Barney on December 5, 12 & 19 from 2-4 pm.  Hitch a ride at 100 Museum Way and on Wesley Street. Donations are appreciated.
  3. 3. Winter Wonderland on Ice starting December 15- 24 at the Oceanside Place Area. Public skate sessions are available.
  4. 4. Santa’s Helper Swim on December 21 from 1:30-4:00 pm at the Ravensong Aquatic Centre. Enjoy reindeer pool games and a visit with Santa. Admission rate is reduced.


Vancouver City:

  1. 1. Heritage Christmas from November 21, 2015 to Friday January 1, 2016 visit the Burnaby Village Museum and Carousel.
  2. 2. Rogers Santa Claus Parade on December 6 in downtown Vancouver.  Parade starts at 1pm at West Georgia Street & Broughton.
  3. 3. Vandusen Botanical Garden Presents Enchanted Nights at Bloedel Conservatory from December 4, 2015 to January 3, 2016



1. Toronto Christmas Festival at Yonge-Dundas Square from December 12-21. Enjoy love music, a laser show (every night at 10pm), complimentary hot cocoa and marshmellows. Santa will be around to take pictures with everyone too.

2. Must-See Hanukkah Events in Toronto are taking place across the city from December 6-14 that include annual shows, Chanukah Shabbat and Dinner, Chanukah tea parties, poolside Chanukah candlelighting and more!

3. Andy Warhol: Stars of the Silver Screen runs from October 30, 2015-January 24, 2016 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox where an exhibition of his personal collection of artifacts, memorabilia, early artworks, film, video works and photographs are on display.

4. This House Was Made For Christmas takes place at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection Gallery from October 7, 2015- January 31, 2015.

5. Magical Winterland Nights at Casa Loma from December 2, 9,23 & 30 from 5-9 pm. Several activities taking place. Treat yourself to some hot cocoa while you are there.
