Our Addiction and Mental Health Program uses an evidence-based approach for treating alcohol and other substance use disorders including:

A Day at EHN Bellwood Nova Scotia’s Drug and Alcohol Inpatient Program

Recovery takes commitment and structure. That’s why every day is carefully scheduled to provide individuals with the greatest opportunity for recovery.

Morning

After starting your day with a healthy, delicious breakfast, you’ll attend an inspiring lecture from others in the recovery community. Your morning will wrap up with a therapy session.

Afternoon

You’ll heal from the inside out with an invigorating workout and nutritious lunch. Then you’ll spend your afternoon bonding with the other patients and learning new skills for recovery.

Evening

Enjoy dinner in the dining room with your peers, and then explore the beautiful grounds of our facility in picturesque Lawrencetown. Before enjoying free time, you’ll receive specialized support by attending an AA and/or NA meeting.

  • How much does this program cost?

  • Can I use my insurance to pay for treatment?

    In many cases, yes. We work with insurance companies every day to help clients understand their coverage and options. One of our Admissions Counsellors can review your benefits with you and help determine what costs may be covered.

  • What is Aftercare and why is it important?

    Aftercare is post-treatment support to help you maintain your recovery. Upon completion of this program, you’ll attend weekly group therapy sessions for one year with your fellow alumni to review skills learned in treatment, get support from your peers, and discuss any difficulties you are encountering.

  • What substances can you help me recover from?

    We can support you in recovering from substances including alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamines, heroin, cannabis, ketamine, opioids (including fentanyl), benzodiazepines, stimulants, inhalants, and hallucinogens.

  • Is group therapy a part of the program?

    Yes, group therapy is an important part of the program. There is evidence supporting the importance and effectiveness of group therapy, such as fostering belonging and creating hope.

  • Is individual therapy included, too?

    Yes, individual therapy is a part of the program. You’ll see your primary counsellor at least once a week and have 24/7 access to support counsellors for additional 1:1 support

  • What else does the program include in addition to traditional therapy?

    We believe in a holistic approach to recovery. Physical exercise, nutritious meals, art therapy, and spiritual and meditative practices are included in the program. We also support your long-term recovery through relapse prevention training and recovery capital skill-building, helping you to build a strong foundation for success after graduation.

  • Can this program be tailored to my needs?

    Yes, everyone is different and has their own story, and our staff work with you to design a customized care plan and adjust it as necessary throughout your stay.

  • I have more than one diagnosis or am considered a complex case, am I eligible for this program?

    After you speak with an Admissions Coordinator, clinical staff at EHN Bellwood Nova Scotia will review your case. Every case is reviewed individually to determine if we are able to support you.

  • Are there always clinical staff on site?

    Yes, nursing and counsellors are onsite 24/7, with doctors available as well.

  • Can I detox safely here?

    Yes, we offer medically supervised detox.

  • How do I know if this program is right for me?
