The OCD Program at EHN Bellwood Toronto is an intensive inpatient treatment program for adults living with obsessive‑compulsive disorder (OCD).
Delivered in partnership with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre, the program brings together specialized OCD expertise with the structure, support, and immersion in inpatient care.
Treatment goes beyond managing symptoms. The program helps individuals better understand how OCD operates, reduce the intensity of intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviours, and develop practical skills they can carry forward into everyday life.
Who the OCD program is for
This program is designed for individuals who:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Have OCD as their primary diagnosis
- Experience symptoms that significantly interfere with daily life, relationships, work, or self‑care
- Have tried outpatient treatment and need more structured, intensive support
- Are able to participate in a full‑time inpatient treatment program
This program is intended for people whose symptoms require focused, immersive care in order to make meaningful progress.
How do you begin OCD treatment?
There are two different ways to begin OCD treatment at EHN Bellwood Toronto:
Individuals with a referral for OCD treatment are able to be admitted through Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre. In these cases:
- Intake and eligibility are managed by Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre.
- A hospital‑based assessment process is used.
- Admission timelines depend on referral review and program availability.
- This option is often appropriate for individuals entering care through hospital or specialist referrals.
Individuals who are interested in OCD treatment, but do not have a physician referral, can contact EHN Bellwood Toronto for more information regarding the OCD program, eligibility requirements, and guidance on next steps.
Please be advised that regardless of referral status, a formal primary diagnosis of OCD is required to participate in the program.

Morning
Set yourself up for a successful day with a healthy, chef-prepared breakfast. Then, attend one-on-one therapy to explore the roots of your OCD and learn how to manage symptoms.
Afternoon
Heal from the inside out with an invigorating, instructor-led workout and nutritionist-planned lunch. Then, practice the ERP skills you learned in therapy.

Yes, out-of-province and international individuals are eligible to enrol in the OCD program, contact us to learn more.

How does payment or coverage work for OCD treatment?
Coverage and payment options depend on where you live.
- In Ontario: A physician referral is required for OHIP‑funded access. Treatment may also be paid out of pocket or through private insurance, depending on your situation.
- Outside of Ontario: Treatment is handled outside of OHIP. You may need to work with your referring physician to apply for out‑of‑province funding or explore private insurance options.
- International: Coverage is not guaranteed. We recommend confirming coverage with your insurer in advance.

Are clinical staff onsite 24/7?
Yes. While the Sunnybrook team provides therapeutic programming for clients in the OCD Treatment Program during the day, the EHN Bellwood Toronto clinical and medical staff are available on site at all times to collaborate and support.

Will I receive individual therapy as well as group therapy?
Yes. The OCD program includes both individual and group therapy.

Can you accommodate dietary needs?
EHN Bellwood Toronto can accommodate many dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, halal, dairy‑free, and gluten‑free diets. Dietary needs should be discussed with admissions prior to arrival.
