A Day in the Life at EHN Bellwood Toronto’s OCD Program

At EHN Bellwood Toronto, every part of the patient experience is meticulously designed by our team of medical experts to promote the best chances at a successful recovery. Here’s what a typical day in our Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Program might look like.

Morning

You’ll set yourself up for a successful day with a healthy, chef-prepared breakfast. Then, you’ll attend one-on-one therapy in which you’ll explore the root of your OCD and learn how to manage your symptoms.

Afternoon

You’ll heal from the inside out with an invigorating, instructor-led workout and nutritionist-planned lunch. Then, you’ll practice the ERP skills you learned in therapy.

Evening

You’ll wrap up the day by attending a group CBT session led by a licensed counsellor. Finally, you’ll unwind over dinner with peers and immerse yourself in the beauty of EHN Bellwood Toronto’s campus with an evening walk.

    Upon completion of this program, you’ll attend weekly group therapy sessions for one year with your fellow alumni to review skills learned in treatment, get support from your peers, and discuss any difficulties you are encountering.

  • Is group therapy a part of the program?

    Yes, group therapy is an important part of the program. There is evidence supporting the importance and effectiveness of group therapy, such as fostering belonging and creating hope. Read why group therapy is effective here.

  • Is individual therapy included?

    Yes, individual therapy is a part of the program. You’ll see your primary counsellor at least once a week and have 24/7 access to support counsellors for additional 1:1 support.

  • What else does the program include in addition to traditional therapy?

    We believe in a holistic approach to recovery. Physical exercise, nutritious meals, art therapy, and spiritual and meditative practices are included in the program. We also support your long-term recovery through relapse prevention training and recovery capital skill-building, helping you to build a strong foundation for success after graduation.

  • Can this program be tailored to my needs?

    Yes, everyone is different and has their own story, and our staff work with you to design a customized care plan and adjust it as necessary throughout your stay.

  • Are there always clinical staff on site?

    Yes, nursing and counsellors are onsite 24/7, with doctors available as well. In case of an emergency, we are located beside Sunnybrook Hospital for quick access to additional medical support.

  • Can you accommodate my dietary needs?

    Our chef and kitchen staff are excellent. They are able to accommodate a variety of diets, including vegetarian, vegan, halal, dairy-free, gluten intolerant, and soft food.

  • Will I interact with people in other treatment programs?

    Yes, although you will have a specific schedule for this program, there will be plenty of opportunities to interact with those in other treatment programs. We encourage you to build supportive relationships with fellow residents during your stay.
